- Yama has always been an avid music collector & keen party goer. If asked the question “when did you start DJing?” Yama answers “I've always played music to people but 2001 was the year I got a 2nd turntable and mixer, and went mad on House music after seeing the Inland Knights at “Calibre” nightclub in Auckland." His music styles are branded with that Deep Funk sound. If you thought you saw Yama playing Jazzy HipHop, or Dirty Breaks at some house party or small bar? You probably did…He’ll sometimes break out Dub, & Drum n Bass when you look the other way. Never afraid to break the genre rules and push boundaries. But his heart definitely lies with that DeepFunkyJackinDirtyOld House music.
